OPI Nail Lacquer – On Collins Avenue Review
Hi my beautiful friends,
Hope all of you are enjoying 2014 with full energy and enthusiasm. I am also loving my days, seems magic of IMBB is working on me and I am feeling so happy and blissful in myself. Moreover, I read a short story somewhere that once there was a race between all frogs and finally a handicapped frog won the race irrespective of all hooting and low expectations of people from him. Can you guess why and how? The simple reason is that the winner frog was deaf, so he could hardly listen to any of them! I don’t know why I liked this story so much that I felt like sharing it here! I got all my answers in this short story, which were actually haunting me since the past year. I imagine myself as a frog too who is crippled with expectations, unhealthy comparisons, responsibilities, etc., and now the only thing I need in my life is to become deaf so as to win my race of life. I feel this applies to all of us up to some extent isn’t? Anyway, before this topic becomes philosophy, let’s move on to today’s review Here I come with another gorgeous, chic vibrant orange nail lacquer from OPI. My Experience with OPI Nail Lacquer – On Collins Avenue:
I don’t know whether I should thank my hubby or bang my head for his poor general knowledge about gal’s stuff. He usually doesn’t like coming with me for shopping, but he cannot let me go free and shop alone either! So, often I give him list of my stuff on his way to office. This is cool except for a few things where he uses his smartness (read stupid mind). Once I asked him to bring a good true red nail paint. He used his brain and bought me this red orange shade saying that “aaj tumhe red chaiye, kal orange kahogi, parso kya pata yellow; isliye main ek hi baar me red orange le aaya, ek ke price me 2-2 shades ke maze lo” I never know what’s inside his head!
Anyway, the shade was really super chic, hence I accepted his brainy (read silly) explanation. This particular shade – On Collins Avenue lacquer looks more or less similar to my previous OPI “I Eat Mainly Lobster” nail paint except the fact that this is more vibrant and more orange than the later one which looks more coral. I think it is a hot vibrant orange shade to pop up and jazz your nails with slight hint of red. A true summery shade; however, I am wearing it in winters and it is complimenting my looks very well! Undoubtedly, color plays a significant role in gearing up mood and health and this color is a mood enhancer! As OPI always claims, all these nail paints give streak-free clean, opaque finishing on the nails with or without top/base coat.
They are quick drying hence no mess in layering or application. It does not bleed on nails nor will it give any blotchy stain once its removed off from the nails unlike nail paints from other brands. The only issue bothering me is that like other OPI nail paints (read owned by me), this also starts chipping on the very second or third day. However, it remains intact on my toe nails for a week or so. I don’t use any base or top coat, just directly apply 2 coats of this nail lacquer for an opaque, clean, finishing touch and it gives good results!
Thankfully, the chipping is just from the tip, not like any ugly patchy chipping off, so I can manage to live with it for 1-2 weeks. I would recommend this nail paint for its super chic shade and streak-free finishing irrespective of its chipping factor because it really gives a quick drying and clean finish, which I never noticed in any other nail paint than OPI.
Let’s sum up the pros and cons:
Pros of OPI Nail Lacquer – On Collins Avenue:
- An awesome, vibrant orange nail lacquer without shimmer.
- An ultimate mood-enhancing and feel-good shade to pop up nails.
- Can be used in summers, winters or spring for a bright jazzed up look.
- It will go with any outfit (at least for me).
- A mess-free application with quick drying.
- It really gives streak-free, clean and opaque finishing on nails even without any base or top coat.
- It gives a glossy sheen which remains intact for a week or so.
- A classy packaging with enough product to last many months.
Cons of OPI Nail Lacquer – On Collins Avenue:
- It chips slightly from the tip on the very second day, though it remains intact on my toe nails.
- Well, for me price is no longer a con, for its almost double quantity and gives a streak-free clean finishing and is DBP-toluene-formaldehyde free. Even if it chips off slightly, it does not look odd and I wear it as it is for a week or so. I have used other nail paints too and thus I feel this OPI is a quick and mess-free alternative for messy mums like me. I believe many of you may agree with me on this point! Just try this shade, it is super chic gals.
