Hyaluronic Acid For Soft and Supple Skin
Heya everyone! Hope life’s treating you awesome
Today’s read is something different, It will be a “gyaani” (word invented by moi! article, but indeed an eye opener for all of us! It is on one of the very important ingredient for our skin and the ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid. I came across this wonder ingredient during my visits to my dermatologist. She swears by this and recommends it to everyone, across all skin types, across all ages. I personally have been using it since the last 3 months and have seen the difference it has made to my skin As always, the research“keeda” bit me, so here I am, sharing my experience and knowledge with you all.
Let’s get our basics in place first Promise, I will not get into those unpronounceable scientific terms. I like keeping it simple
What is Hyaluronic Acid (HA)?
It is basically a gel like molecule that acts as a cushioning agent in our body. For example: Imagine our epidermis layer (inner layer of our skin) as a sponge, the solid part is collagen and the substance that holds a sponge together is hyaluronic acid. Hence, it acts as space filler keeping our skin healthy and young. An average human body contains about 15 grams of Hyaluronic Acid and 1/3rd of it is synthesized daily. As we grow old (sad ! but true), our body drastically reduces the production of Hyaluronic acid leading to wrinkles, crow’s feet and other ageing issues. It is also observed that as we reach our 40’s, our skin produces half the HA needed for it to look young and glowing. *Scared*
Hyaluronic Acid For Skin:
Almost half of the body’s HA is located in the collagen of the skin. So you can imagine the role it plays in keeping our skin looking fresh and young. HA is the best ingredient to retain water in our skin, hence resulting in increased smoothness and softness of the skin. Hyaluronic acid acts as an excellent moisturizer and gives a grown-up’s skin a fresher, younger and supple look. The best way to get supple, firmer skin is through Hyaluronic acid fillers done through a dermatologist. In this procedure, HA is directly injected into wrinkled areas to plump up the skin. No, I have never tried this! But I do know that this is the best way once can benefit from this magical ingredient.
The good news is that this is not the only way! There is another way to include Hyaluronic Acid in your skin care; it is through topical application. Applied topically, it increases the hydration of your skin, improves elasticity and water retention of your skin.
How do I use Hyaluronic Acid in my skin care?
By Applying Hyaluronic acid gel every single day twice a day to attain maximum benefits. Here is the image of the product that I use, totally lightweight and just sinks in your skin like magic!
I personally would not want to go for the creams containing HA as Hyaluronic Acid content is a mere 10-20%. We do get pure HA gels in medical stores that can be used. These gels are so lightweight that it can be used by extremely oily skin beauties and acne prone beauties as well. In fact, using HA gels before the CTM routine increases the absorbency and retention of the other products that we apply. So guys, wake up Hyaluronic Acid is too good to miss
I really believe this is like an “age no bar” ingredient that must be incorporated in our skin care regimen. Hope you guys found this article worth a read! Next time, I promise to get something fun here.
Thnx.
