My Experience with Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler:
For years now, I have used my favorite ELF eyelash curler and I was perfectly happy with it, but I decided to venture and try other similar products and IMBB’s sponsoring scheme has given me the opportunity to try this wonderful product. In this review, I will be reviewing Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler on its own and also comparing it side by side with my ELF eyelash curler, so you can decide for yourself if the drugstore cheaper brand is good enough for you or if it’s worth the splurge in the high-end stuff.
I love the fact that the Kevyn Aucoin Curler is so lightweight and made of durable stainless steel construction. The curler is very sleek and sophisticated in design and the bright red pad gives it that something extra which makes it unique. The bright red pad is also of great help as it is helps see your eyelashes against the pad while curling which would normally blend in if the pad was black. It also comes with an extra replacement pad which can be used if the current pad wears off or gets lost. The pad is also very gentle on the eye lashes. I have had no problem with my lashes being cut or tugged out.
I don’t like the fact that it does not go back to the original open position once the pressure is released like my ELF curler does. Also, I don’t like the fact that the holder holes for the fingers are small and doesn’t have any cushioning, hence if you happen to have thicker fingers/thumb, it would be a little painful to squeeze your fingers through them.
Also, the most important thing which can be a con in this product is as you can see in the comparison photo with the ELF curler, is that the band that sits on top of the eyelashes while curling is quite wide. It almost fits my medium sized eyes, so if you have smaller eyes, this would be a huge problem for you. Also, it also does tend to pinch my eyelids if I am not too careful about the placement of the curler.
About the claims of it being able to curl bottom lashes is totally false. No matter in what position I try to get it to reach my bottom lashes, it is impossible.
About the curling effect of the lashes, my ELF curler used to give me natural lift, but the Kevyn Aucoin curler gives me a dramatic lift. I have been blessed with long lashes, but I do lack in volume and thickness. This curler also separates my lashes while curling and gives it almost a 90-degree lift. The effect is clearly visible in the before and after picture.
Pros of Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler:
- Stainless steel sturdy construction.
- Lightweight.
- Comes with a replacement pad.
- Red pad makes lashes easier to see against it while curling.
- Gives a dramatic lift to the eyelashes.
Cons of Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler:
- Handle holes are a bit too small, might pose a problem if you have thicker fingers.
- Claim of curling bottom lashes is totally impractical and false.
- Curling band is way too wide, will pose a problem for smaller eyes.
- Need to be careful while curling or it does tend to pinch the eyelids.
Thnxxxxxx.
