Nexxus ProMend Split End Binding Targeted Leave-In Treatment Creme
Hey Guys,
It’s a new year and a time for new beginnings. I’m sure a lot of you are embarking on new diets, workout plans, and beauty regimens. Good luck to all of you, whatever the goals may be! Today I’ll be talking about a product that I started using a while back, with the hope of giving my hair a new start. Did it work? Read on to find out!
Product Background and Description
Nexxus is one of America’s leading salon hair care brands. It was founded over 30 years ago, in 1979, by father-son duo Jheri and Stephen Redding (who also created the brand Redken in 1960). Jheri Redding, a hairdresser and chemist, is often credited with being the founder of the modern conditioner. Today, the company operates under a different owner and the Nexxus brand has grown to be synonymous with salon quality hair care.
Nexxus ProMend Split End Binding Targeted Leave-In Treatment cream promises to “provide daily repair for split end problem areas.” It is designed for “use after each shower to bind 92% of split ends back together before styling, so ends look beautifully healthy and strong.” The creme “focuses on true split end repair by binding split ends back together in one use.”
The product comes packaged in a durable plastic bottle with a pump. The Nexxus logo is prominently featured on it.

My Experience with Nexxus ProMend Split End Binding Targeted Leave-In Treatment Creme
I’ve been pretty rough on my hair the past year, leaving it pretty dry, damaged, and ridden with split-ends. I decided to use henna on my hair early in 2013 and hated the results. It made my hair dry and gave it a weird orange-ish tint that wasn’t really flattering. I then decided I wanted to lighten my hair and using an at home color kit, went really blonde (think Ameesha Patel circa 2005, yikes!). Not only did the color suck, it was so badly done that some random areas of my head were dark brown and others ash blonde! In about a week, I was over the mess on my head and rushed to the nearest salon to get it colored to a dark brown! All my capriciousness only left my hair severely damaged and prone to a lot of hair fall!
I bought this leave in creme a while back when I was on a Nexus product kick, but only started using it consistently a few months back. I chopped off a significant amount of hair in the fall/autumn and once I started noticing new split ends forming, decided to use this product regularly.
After shampooing and conditioning, I apply the creme all over my hair, focusing on the ends. I’ve been cutting down a lot on heat and just let my hair air-dry in a loose bun once I work this into it. The texture of the product is similar to that of a thick body lotion, and it has a faint but lingering fragrance of coconuts. (Coconut oil is one of the ingredients in the product.) The product is pretty light on the hair and doesn’t weigh the hair down. Nor does it leave it feeling crunchy like some gels, mousses, and hair sprays do.
Although the effects of the creme aren’t noticeable on wet hair, I can really feel them once they’re dry. My hair is softer, shinier and, overall, a lot less frizzy. I’m not sure if “binding” is the best way to describe it, but the product really does a great job at smoothing out each and every strand. Since the strands are all smoothed down, the split-ends aren’t really visible. Once my hair is almost dry, I let it down from the bun. The result is soft waves that look like a lot of work went into styling them. All with not much effort! On days I’m in a hurry (or simply lazy), I’ve skipped a rinse-out conditioner and used this after a shampoo, and it’s worked equally well. It takes a little more product on those days, but the results have been pretty consistent.
The only aspect where the product quite doesn’t perform is fixing split-ends. While it minimizes the appearance of split-ends, it doesn’t mend them. I’m aware that the only method to really repairing split ends is chopping them off! But a girl can dream of miracle products, right? It would also be nice if the product added a little body to the hair. Again, most volumnizing products only work with heat, but ideally I’d like for this to add volume to my hair too.
